The Prime Minister's tribute came as anniversary ceremonies were held across the United States, including at the National September 11 Memorial & Museum in New York, the Pentagon and Shanksville.
U.S. Ambassador Sergio Gor also echoed the call for solidarity and zero tolerance towards terrorism. BJP leader Rajeev Chandrasekhar similarly stressed the importance of standing together against terrorism.
The 25th anniversary observances brought renewed attention to the nearly 3,000 lives lost in the September 11 attacks and the continuing call for solidarity and zero tolerance against terrorism.
